Review on age-specific exposure to organophosphate esters: Multiple exposure pathways and microenvironments

چکیده
Organophosphate esters (OPEs) widely exist in the environment, raising increasing concerns about their potential health risks. This comprehensive review surveyed occurrence of OPEs over last decade indoor microenvironments (i.e. residence, in-vehicle, office, and school/daycare center), outdoors, foodstuffs, drinking water, human-related specimen breast milk urine) with a view to unraveling age-specific exposure OPEs. Multiple pathways including inhalation, dermal absorption, dust ingestion, dietary ingestion were considered prioritize relative importance. The results showed that was main contributor, followed by regardless age. A healthy diet less contaminated food can effectively reduce OPE intake. concentrations air sequence in-vehicle office > center residence outdoors. Compared other settings, schools/daycare centers offices contributed greater intake non-adults adults, respectively. estimated daily infants toddlers children teenagers adults elderlies. Overall, posed low risks all age cohorts, but vulnerable subject highest risk, largely attributed ingestion. highlights need for more toxicity bioaccessibility studies on mixtures metabolites further refine risk assessment

Biological monitoring of genotoxicity to organophosphate pesticide exposure among rice farmers: Exposure-effect continuum study
Background: This study has used biomarker of exposure-effect continuum to examine the biological characteristics of organophosphate (OP) toxicity and its genotoxic effect among rice farmers. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 160 pesticide exposed rice farmers and 160 adults from the fishing village as the unexposed group. They share the common socio-economical ...

The American Chemistry Council Phthalate Esters Panel read with great interest the paper by Blount et al. (1) regarding urinary levels of phthalate ester metabolites in a sample set of the Third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES III) population. We have known for some time of this research, and have provided whatever information and assistance we could to the Centers for ...
متن کاملOrganophosphate toxicity and occupational exposure.
The ubiquitous organophosphates present a continuing health hazard in agriculture, public health eradication programmes and as chemical warfare agents. Despite significant progress in understanding the potential mechanisms of toxicity far beyond the commonly accepted mechanism of cholinesterase inhibition in intentional exposures, the precise health effects following occupational exposures are ...
متن کاملAge-specific carcinogenesis: environmental exposure and susceptibility.
Environmental exposures in children may occur through many routes, including diet, air, and the ingestion of various nonfood items such as medications and household materials. This article focuses on dietary exposure, but it does highlight the importance of considering other routes of exposure when assessing exposure in children. It presents many of the findings in the two recent reports, Pesti...
متن کاملProstate Specific Antigen Level in Exposure to Sulfur Mustard
Background: Oxidants and inflammation agents are predisposing factors for the development of prostate cancer. As a chemical warfare, sulfur mustard (SM) can cause cancer through various pathways mainly increased production of oxidants and inflammation. Due to high incidence of cancer in SM victims, concentration of prostate specific antigen (PSA) in SM victims was evaluated and compared with th...
